Control (2007)
Tuesday 10 November, 21:00
De Uitkijk, Amsterdam
The story of Joy Division. In 1970s Manchester, troubled musician Ian Curtis and his band stand on the cusp of international fame and fortune. Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn photographed the post-punk band in their heyday and subsequently made this enigmatic biopic. CONTROL (2007) transcends the biographical facts and musical achievements to paint an elusive and sublime portrait. Curtis is portrayed with dignity and impressively by Sam Riley, delving deep into the darkness of his emotional landscape. (2007 · Anton Corbijn · 122 min) Screening at De Uitkijk.
