Happy End (1967)
Tuesday 15 September, 21:00
De Uitkijk, Amsterdam
In HAPPY END (1967), there is no time for tragic musings on love, for we are all simply becoming younger and more innocent. The story of HAPPY END begins at the very end, when the severed head of a man who murdered his wife rolls back onto his body during his execution. Despite the macabre nature of the story, HAPPY END is an exceptionally light-hearted and innovative comedy. Director Oldrich Lipsky boldly challenges the viewer by completely turning typical narrative structures on their head. The result of this experiment is hilarious mental gymnastics. (1967 · Oldrich Lipsky · 71 min) Screening at De Uitkijk.
