Loves of a Blonde (1965)

Saturday 5 September, 19:10

De Uitkijk, Amsterdam

The shoe factory where Andula, an innocent Czech girl from a working-class town, works is a place where almost everyone is a woman. Andula is desperately searching for love when Milda crosses her path. She immediately snags the rare man, a charming young pianist from Prague. Just as the monotony of Andula’s life finally seems to be broken, Milda packs his bags again. Unexpectedly, Andula hears nothing more from him. She decides to set off for Prague unannounced, a recipe for drama… LOVES OF A BLONDE (1965), a story about the ecstasies and cruelties of young love, is an early work by director Miloš Forman. The Czech director would later emigrate to America, where he would go on to direct masterpieces such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) and Amadeus (1984). (1965 · Milos Forman · 90 min) Screening at De Uitkijk.
